About A Village Behavior Services
The phrase “it takes a village to raise a child” originates from an African proverb and conveys the message that it takes many people to provide a safe, healthy, and supportive environment for children, where they can develop, flourish, and realize their hopes and dreams. At A Village Behavior Services, we deeply value this concept. We believe that every adult in a child’s life plays an important role in giving them the tools they need to navigate their world. This is why, in addition to working one-on-one with your child, we also work closely with parents, caregivers, teachers, and other providers (i.e., SLPs, OTs, PTs, psychologists, etc.). This collaborative approach allows us to provide the best possible support to each individual child, to help them reach their fullest potential, and gain as much independence as possible.
Independence and self-determination are core values at A Village Behavior Services. We believe that all children have a right to self-determination. Every child deserves: the freedom to make choices; to have their ‘voice’ heard and respected; agency over their body; access to their environment at home, at school, and in public spaces; the ability to engage in leisure activities; autonomy over their time; and perhaps most importantly, acceptance and inclusion within their “village”.
Research supports a link between self-determination and quality of life for people with developmental disabilities. Learn more here.
Hi, my name is Aubree (she/her). I have been a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) for more than 10 years and have been working in the field of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) for over 15 years. I have always loved working with children and have done so in many capacities throughout my life.
I grew up in Poulsbo, WA and it was there that I first began babysitting children in my neighborhood and helping out at a local daycare center. As a teenager, my family moved to eastern WA where I worked at a preschool, tutored neighborhood kids, participated in a mentorship program with at-risk elementary school students, and taught sign language to children in a youth group. Upon graduating from high school, I moved to Seattle to attend the University of Washington where I earned a BA in Sociology and Psychology. While in college, I worked as an assistant teacher in an elementary school special education program, volunteered as a classroom assistant at a Title 1 school, and nannied for an amazing family whom I am still close with today.
When I came upon the world of ABA, I quickly fell in love and knew I had found my true calling! For the next few years, I worked in the ABA field as a Behavior Technician and an assistant teacher at the Experimental Education Unit (EEU), UW’s inclusive birth through kindergarten autism program. I then returned to UW to get a M.Ed. in Special Education and completed the coursework and field experience necessary to sit for the BCBA national board exam. I spent the next 10 years practicing as a BCBA and gaining valuable experience working with incredible Seattle families and their children (ages 2 - 17 yrs), through local ABA agencies.
I am now proud to have my own agency, A Village Behavior Services LLC, where I hope to continue to fulfill my passion by making a positive impact on the lives of children and their village.
